The Galloping Doom

Some walls need more than paint. This one needs something riding through the dark, permanently.

Washington Irving gave America its own headless rider, but the fear underneath the story is older than the story itself: something faceless, mounted, and coming for you after dark. He gallops, and by the time you hear hooves on the covered bridge, it's already too late to outrun him.

Some legends outlive the men who told them. This one carries the weight of an American original, not imported folklore: a pumpkin where a face should be, riding down anyone who lingers too long on Halloween's oldest night.

There's no reasoning with something that isn't looking for its own head anymore, just anyone else's. The bridge won't save you, and neither will running. Some hunts only end one way, and it was decided long before you ever heard the hooves.

Hang it where you'll walk past it at night. That's when it actually starts working.
