The Galloping Doom

Some things you don't just wear. You carry them.

A galloping doom rides through Sleepy Hollow's autumn dark, lantern-lit and headless, hunting for a head to replace its own.

Washington Irving gave America its own headless rider, but the fear underneath the story is older than the story itself: something faceless, mounted, and coming for you after dark. He gallops, and by the time you hear hooves on the covered bridge, it's already too late to outrun him.

Some legends outlive the men who told them. This one carries the weight of an American original, not imported folklore: a pumpkin where a face should be, riding down anyone who lingers too long on Halloween's oldest night.

There's no reasoning with something that isn't looking for its own head anymore, just anyone else's. The bridge won't save you, and neither will running. Some hunts only end one way, and it was decided long before you ever heard the hooves.

Numbered, not costumed. There's a difference, and you're wearing it.
